This interactive preconference offers introductory education about the evidence-based approaches for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating obesity in a clinical setting. The content is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinicians-in-training, and other healthcare providers who treat patients with the disease of obesity. After the attending the Fundamentals of Obesity Treatment, you will learn:

  • The basic concepts that define obesity as a disease
  • The pathophysiology of obesity
  • How to evaluate patients for obesity and related diseases using ethical, non-stigmatizing communication
  • How to treat obesity using four treatment pillars: nutrition, physical activity, behavior and pharmcotherapy
  • How to develop comprehensive treatment plans using interventions in all four treatment pillars

The Spring Obesity Summit will prepare you to treat obesity at the root to manage your patients’ obesity-related conditions and improve your patient’s overall health and quality of life. At the Spring Obesity Summit, gain practical strategies to treat patients with obesity in a primary care, specialty, or obesity medicine practice. You can curate your conference experience by determining the content level that fits your educational needs through the Proficiency Track and the Masters Track.

Attend the Proficiency Track to expand upon your foundational knowledge in obesity medicine. Sessions during this track will focus on:
