Haymarket Medical Education and Gather-ed/Real CME | Multi-format Obesity Care Learning Initiative

OMA Partners With Haymarket Medical Education and Gather-ed/Real CME On Multi-format Obesity Care Learning Initiative

To foster the extension of the expertise of ABOM-certified physicians to primary care clinicians who are integral to the care of individuals with obesity, the OMA has collaborated with Haymarket Medical Education and Gather-ed/Real CME on the development of an innovative, multicomponent, interactive CME experience, including on-demand learning available on myCME, a global CME leader.

The program–Activating Clinicians to Deliver Effective Obesity Care–is supported by an educational grant from Lilly and designed to meaningfully propel primary care clinicians into taking the necessary steps to deliver personalized, effective obesity care in their practice.

Using a digital small group, social learning approach, the program is specifically designed to facilitate engagement and mentoring between ABOM-certified physician Group Leaders and primary care clinicians.

To extend the education to an even wider audience of primary care clinicians, the 2 self-instruction modules from the group-based education are now available on myCME where learners can earn free AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, AAPA Category 1 CME Credits, ANCC Contact Hours, or IPCE Credits.

This 2-part webinar (.50 CME/CE) explores the most recent clinical trial data on available and emerging pharmacologic agents to address obesity and related health risks. After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply the most recent evidence-based guidelines for the identification of obesity in adults and other populations.
  • Describe the underlying pathophysiology of obesity and metabolic adaptations that prevent significant, long-term weight loss and implications for obesity treatment.
