Call for Obesity Pillars® Associate Editors and Reviewers

Due to the overwhelming success of Obesity Pillars® (the official journal of the OMA), and the increased number of submissions, the Editors of the Obesity Pillars® seek additional Associate Editors and Reviewers - especially for adult obesity medicine.

Obesity Pillars® Associate Editors

Associate editors help manage the journal peer review process by evaluating submissions, inviting reviewers, and making decisions regarding submissions (accept, reject, or revise).

Obesity Pillars® Reviewers

Reviewers are periodically sent submissions to evaluate for quality and clinical relevance, to provide constructive feedback to authors, and to help Editors decide to recommend acceptance, rejection, or revision.

Priorities regarding Obesity Pillars® Associate Editors and/or Reviewers include ensuring accuracy, objectivity, and timely completion of the peer review process regarding submissions to Obesity Pillars®. Obesity Pillars® provides free training for each of these roles.

Benefits of Becoming an Associate Editor or Reviewer

Benefits of being an Associate Editor or Reviewer for Obesity Pillars® include being updated on recent advances, trends, and controversies of obesity medicine. Being an Obesity Pillars® Associate Editor and/or Reviewer also helps develop analytic skills and helps with professional development, as these positions can be included on Curriculum Vitae’s, and because the names of Associate Editors and Reviewers are listed on the Obesity Pillars® website.

Finally, a priority for many Obesity Medicine Association members is to “make a difference.” Obesity Pillars® Associate Editor and/or Reviewer have direct influence in shaping the future of obesity clinical science.
