Full-Time Physician | Massachusetts General Hospital

Full-time physician sought by Massachusetts General Hospital/MGPO to perform clinical duties in the MGH Weight Center pediatrics program. Physician will see pediatric patients with obesity. The incumbent will have teaching responsibilities and academic appointment will be at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School and determined by the applicant's credentials.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide comprehensive care (assessment, diagnosis, treatment through behavioral/lifestyle
    therapy, pharmacotherapy, and coordination of metabolic/bariatric surgery) for adult patients
    with obesity within an established academic outpatient clinic. The schedule follows standard
    Monday-Friday office hours and offers both in-office and virtual care delivery.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of advanced practice providers, nutrition therapists,
    psychologists, and metabolic/bariatric surgeons to optimize comprehensive patient care.
  3. Contribute to the development and implementation of new programs or services within the
    Weight Center to enhance patient care and expand the clinic’s offerings.
  4. Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing education and actively stay
    informed on the latest advancements in obesity medicine.
  5. Participate in a group call rotation to manage after-hours urgent patient calls and provide cross
    coverage for colleagues during absences.
  6. Engage in the Mass General Brigham’s (MGB) electronic-consult program to provide focused
    guidance to other clinicians at MGB who are caring for adult patients with obesity.
  7. Precept and teach medical residents and fellows rotating through the MGH Weight Center.

Requirements

Requires M.D. or D.O. degree or equivalent with training in Pediatrics or Family Medicine via completion of ACGME-accredited residency in Pediatric or Family Medicine. Must be board certified or board eligible for certification in Obesity Medicine. Completion of an Obesity Medicine fellowship is preferred.

Obesity Medicine Physician | Nova Physician Wellness Center

Our multidisciplinary Obesity Medicine practice is seeking a dedicated Physician to become a valued member of our Northern Virginia team. The ideal candidate will work alongside our board-certified obesity specialists, registered dietitians, behavioral therapists, and exercise counselors. We encourage applications from individuals with a strong interest in obesity management, wellness, and nutrition. Comprehensive training will be provided for the successful candidate.

This outpatient position requires a commitment of one Saturday morning per month for a half-day, with no night or on-call responsibilities. While prior experience in obesity management is beneficial, it is not a prerequisite.

Medical Weight Management Physician | WellSpan Medical Weight Management

WellSpan Medical Weight Management is seeking a dynamic Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician (MD or DO ) who is board-certified in Obesity Medicine by American Board of Obesity Medicine or completed fellowship in Obesity Medicine. This is a great opportunity to join a collegial team that works collaboratively with Primary Care Physicians and Bariatric Surgery, to provide patients with the best care possible , is dedicated to transforming the care of obesity and reducing the stigma associated with obesity . Practice Specifics:

  • Innovative providers include a lead physician, four experienced CRNPs , and two PAs.
  • Program Administrator and experienced practice managers.
  • Prior authorizations handled by a dedicated team.
  • Strong referral base from a six-county area with a focus on increased patient access.
  • Flexible hybrid care model of remote/in-person.
  • Monday through Friday schedule, 40 hours per week, with 35 clinical hours. Flexibility for a 4-day work week.
  • 40-minute new patient appointments and 20-minute follow-ups giving plenty of time for quality care.
  • Opportunity to eventually develop a Pediatric Weight Management Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based care for treating obesity, utilizing the four pillars: nutrition, exercise, behavior change, and prescribing medication when necessary.
  • Maintain a non-judgmental approach to treatment with efficient listening and responsiveness.
  • No call required. Outpatient-only role.
  • Communicate with patients through the portal in a timely manner for any questions or concerns, which are pre-screened by the clinical team.
  • Provide personalized plans for patients to help them achieve their goals.
  • Provide clinical guidance and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers, medical assistants, and the rest of the team as assigned.
  • A good understanding of telemedicine and Epic is preferred.

Position Responsibilities:

Teaching: Supervise and teach housestaff who rotate through the obesity medicine clinic. Supervise the 4th year one-month medical student obesity medicine elective. Supervise and teach in the obesity medicine fellowship program. Participate in other learning activities such as morning report, core conference, and other formal educational programs for undergraduate and post-graduate learners.

Research: Participate in clinical and educational research, according to skills, interest, and funding (research opportunities may include performance improvement initiatives or formal extramurally funded investigations).

Service: Work with institutional staff and administration to attain the strategic objectives of VCU Health System, including patient safety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health. Work towards the continued growth of a comprehensive program for the treatment of obesity.

Clinical: Provide direct clinical care to patients with obesity in person at one of three locations. Provider virtual care to patients with obesity. Participate in night and weekend on-call duties (telephone call only; no in-hospital responsibilities), shared among Division of Internal Medicine faculty. Comply in a timely manner with all institutional policies for professional work, including credentialing, documentation, and billing. Work effectively with other members of the extended inter-professional team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Internal Medicine
  • Board certification in Obesity Medicine
  • Direct experience managing complex outpatients
  • Interest in teaching and growth in an academic setting
  • Interest in furthering the academic mission of the Division
  • Experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective communication, both verbal and written

  • Practice exceptional medicine within knownwell
    • Sees adults for primary care, often with a focus on metabolic health. Sees pediatric patients only for metabolic health.

    • Coordinates with the broader care team to ensure the patient has the support they need .
    • Documents as necessary to ensure accurate billing.
    • Communicates with patients in a timely matter through our portal for questions, including with the assistance of a nurse practitioner.
