Obesity Pillars®, the official journal of the Obesity Medicine Association, has received an Impact Factor of 5.3 and a CiteScore of 7.8, indicators of the quality and influence among scholarly journals.

The Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) has announced two major milestones for its peer-reviewed medical journal, Obesity Pillars®: an Impact Factor of 5.3 and a CiteScore of 7.8.

The Impact Factor is assessed and assigned by Clarivate Analytics in its annual Journal Citation Reports (JCR), which provides transparent, publisher-neutral data and statistics for scholarly publications. This is the first year in which Obesity Pillars® has been included in the JCR.

The CiteScore measures the average annual number of citations received by documents published in a serial title—including journals, book series, conference proceedings, and trade journals—over a four-year period. It is calculated and issued to academic journals by Elsevier, utilizing citation data sourced from the Scopus abstract and citation database, to provide a fair assessment of journals and the impact of their research.

"Many readers, academicians, and authors recognize that these milestones establish Obesity Pillars® as a top-tier, highly influential publication within the global field of obesity medicine and metabolic health," said Harold Edward Bays MD, DABOM, MFOMA, FTOS, FACC, FNLA, FASPC, Editor-in-Chief of Obesity Pillars®. "This achievement reflects how frequently our peer-reviewed research is read, trusted, and cited by researchers and clinicians worldwide to advance patient care."

Obesity Pillars® serves physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other clinicians who directly treat patients with obesity. The journal publishes a wide range of content, including Clinical Practice Statements, Scientific Statements, original clinical research, brief reports, clinical reviews, commentaries, roundtable discussions, letters to the editor, and OMA announcements.

"Along with our editors and our many dedicated reviewers, we have built a powerful platform that bridges clinical science with real-world evidence, advancing the treatment of obesity as a chronic disease and supporting clinicians in delivering high-quality patient care for our patients living with obesity," said Dr. Bays.
