How do I access the Virtual Conference platform?

Overcoming Obesity 2020 – Virtual will be hosted on the Virtual Event Place platform. To access the virtual conference platform on October 7-11, you must be logged in to your conference dashboard.

To log in: Your log in username is your email address you registered with. The unique password you created for your OMA account is your password to access the event.

If you forgot your password, you may reset it by clicking Forgot Password on the OMA website. Once reset, you will need to return and log in to your dashboard.

Once logged in to your dashboard, select the Click here to Join button listed under ‘Upcoming Events’. You may also join the event by selecting the Join Virtual Conference link on the top navigation menu.

Where do I go to view the live presentations?

Once you are logged into the Virtual Event Place, click on Education Sessions to enter the webcast auditorium and click the title of the presentation you want to view. Click ‘Attend Webcast’ to view and participate in the live session.

NOTE: Each session has a unique Zoom link. You will need to exit each session and enter the next session you want to view in the webcast auditorium.

Can I update my profile on the platform?

Your name, company and email associated with your OMA account will be used to create your profile on the virtual platform. If you wish to update your name or company, you may choose to do so. IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT update your email address. This is how you authenticate yourself to login for the event. If you change this field, it will result in login issues.

To update your profile:select ‘Update My Profile’ from the drop-down menu under your photo icon in the upper right corner of the platform and click save. Your profile is only for the event; any updates to your name and company will not impact your OMA account information.

Do I need to attend live in order to get credit?

Most presentations will be recorded (except for Building an Obesity Treatment Plan). If you are unable to watch the presentations you registered for during the live virtual conference, you can view the recordings and claim credit for the recorded/enduring material on the Obesity Medicine Academy approximately four weeks after the conference. You will receive an email with instructions on how to access and claim credit for these conference recordings once they become available. You will only receive access to available recordings for the courses that you registered to attend live. If you purchase a one day pass, it must be attended live and recordings will not be available.

Recorded lectures are accredited by AOA, AAP, ACPE, and CDR. Note: These accrediting bodies vary depending on course. Please check the conference accreditation statements to ensure that the live sessions, and thus recorded sessions are accredited by a particular organization. The accreditation organizations listed for this conference applies to the live presentations and session recordings. However, the exact accreditation statements listed may be subject to change to reflect that these credits were claimed for enduring material. All recordings of the conference offer AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM and Participation/CE credits for internet enduring materials. Recorded lectures are not eligible for MOC points.

How do I claim credit for the conference?

After each course of the conference ends, you will be able to claim your credit on the Obesity Medicine Academy. You will receive an email when credit claiming is available. Please follow the instructions below to claim your credit when it becomes available:
1. Visit the Obesity Medicine Academy and log in using your email address and password.
2. Click on My Courses from the menu on the right. (If you are using a phone or tablet, this menu may appear at the bottom.)
3. Select the course:

• 2020 Review Course for the ABOM Exam– Virtual (Live Course)
• 2020 Embracing Multidisciplinary Care – Virtual (Live Course)
• 2020 Fall Obesity Summit – Virtual (Live Course)

4. Click the Submit Credit button near the top of the page.
5. Complete the evaluation and post-test.
6. Check off ONLY the presentations you attended live. The system calculates the amount of credit earned based on what you check off.
7. Confirm that the amount of credit and date are correct.
8. Click the Process Credit button.
9. You will be redirected to the My CME Credit page. Scroll down to the section titled Submitted Credit and click View Obesity Medicine Association Certificate. You may download and save this document, or you can always access it on the Obesity Medicine Academy under My CME Credit.

Will I have access to the recorded lectures after the virtual conference?

If you are enrolled in Review Course for the ABOM Exam, Embracing Multidisciplinary Care, or the Fall Obesity Summit, you will be given access to the recorded lectures on the Obesity Medicine Academy approximately four weeks after the conference. Once they are available, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access and claim credit for viewing these conference recordings. These recordings will be available to you for 90 days after they are posted. Additionally, after 90 days, you will no longer be able to claim credit for viewing these conference recordings.

If you want to view the recordings from the courses you were not registered for, you will have the option to purchase them on the Obesity Medicine Academy approximately 4 weeks after the conference.

Please note: The following course of the virtual conference will not be recorded:

• If you purchase a one day pass, it must be attended live and recordings will not be available.

You must attend this course live if you wish to participate in the sessions and claim credit.

How do I claim MOC points through the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification Program?

The
The Review Course for the ABOM Exam qualifies for up to 13.50 Medical Knowledge MOC points through the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program. You must attend this course live and participate in the live polling questions during the lectures to qualify for MOC points. To claim these points, you will need to submit your credits in the OMAcademy and complete the Review Course for the ABOM Exam online participation form. Once the form is completed, OMA will submit their points to ABIM within 2-4 weeks of completing the form. The deadline to submit the participation form is November 11th 2020.

Building an Obesity Treatment Plan: Advanced Cases qualifies for up to 12.50 MOC points through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program. You must attend this course and participate in the casework discussion sessions to qualify for MOC points. To claim these points, you will need to submit your credits in the OMAcademy and complete the Building an Obesity Treatment Plan: Advanced Cases online participation form. Once the form is completed, OMA will submit their points to ABIM within 2-4 weeks of completing the form. The deadline to submit the participation form is November 11th 2020.

Will these credits count toward my CME requirements for the 2021 ABOM Exam?

In response to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) concerns, the American Board of Obesity Medicine is adjusting its requirements for the 2021 test cycle to ensure that physicians who are subject to travel restrictions may still apply to sit for the certification exam. For this test cycle only, any CME credits offered by OMA will qualify for GROUP ONE credit, including all in-person AND online options.

Please note: This change is in effect for physicians applying to sit for the exam only in February 2021. Physicians planning to sit for the exam in future years will need to adhere to the original requirements that call for at least 30 CME credits earned through in-person attendance at designated GROUP ONE meetings. Will these credits count toward my CE requirements for the NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Clinical Education?

Yes, all credits earned by either attending the live virtual sessions or viewing the recorded lectures will count toward the NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Clinical Education. For 2020, the live credit requirement will be waived for this certificate; therefore, anyone applying for the NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Clinical Education in 2020 can complete all 60 required credits online.

What is the deadline for claiming credit?

The deadline to claim your internet live credit for Overcoming Obesity 2020 – Virtual is November 11, 2020. Live credit will not be awarded after this date. Credit claiming for the recorded lectures will be available until February 2021.

What are the requirements to claim credit for the conference?

After you click “submit credit” for a course, you will have to complete a post-test evaluation and post-conference survey. On the post-test evaluation you will need to get a score of at least 70% to pass, and claim your credit. The system will give you up to 5 attempts to pass the evaluation before the system disables credit claiming. If you need additional attempts added to your account to claim credit, please email cme@obesitymedicine.org., and a staff member can assist you.

Once you have passed the post-test evaluation and have completed the post-conference survey, you will be prompted to check off the presentations that you attended live and confirm the total CME/CE credit amount is correct. The system calculates the amount of credit earned based on the sessions that you check off. To finalize your credit submission, you will click “process credit.” The system will redirect you to the My CME Credit page, where you can download your certificate.

How do I view exhibitors?

Exhibitors in the halls may be viewed by category or searched by company name on the virtual platform. Click on the virtual booth you’d like to visit to learn more about the exhibiting company.

How do I interact with exhibitors?

To share your information with an exhibitor, simply select the ‘Leave Business Card’ feature located in each booth. The information included in your business card is pulled from your platform profile. You may also request a meeting with an exhibitor by using the chat feature in each booth. An exhibit staff member will coordinate a time that works for both of you. One on one meetings may be held via live chat or video chat.

Is there a Trail Map in the virtual exhibit hall?

Yes, our popular trail map has gone virtual! Visit the Trail Map exhibit hall and leave your business card in each booth to enter to win a $1,000 gift card. One winner will be selected and notified on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Must be a 2020 Fall Virtual Conference attendee to enter.

Where can I locate poster presentations?

To view poster displays, go to the ePoster menu on the top navigation bar and click the poster you wish to view. Three poster authors will give a 15-minute poster presentation that will take place on Friday, October 9 from 5:45 – 6:30 pm EDT. All three presenters will be hosting a “table” during Breakfast with the Experts on Sunday, October 11th at 10:00-10:30 am EDT.

Will there be a mobile app?

No mobile app will be used for Overcoming Obesity 2020 – Virtual. All content will be located on the virtual platform.

What are the system requirements to view the conference?

For ideal viewing and participation, attendees should have access to the following:

• Adobe Flash Plug-in
• Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers
• High speed internet connection
• Access to view the conference on a desktop or laptop is preferred. Also compatible with iOS (Apple) and Android based tablets and smartphone.

What device can I use to access the live stream?

We strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop computer with a hardline internet connection for best performance and experience. The live stream may also be accessed by most mobile devices, including tablets and smartphones.

How do I test my audio and video for the sessions?

Networking lounge rooms, chat features and sessions will be hosted on Zoom. We recommend testing your audio and video on your device before the conference begins. Go to www.zoom.us/test to complete a test of our device.

How can I optimize my internet for a better video streaming experience?

• Maximize your internet connection speed and consistency by connecting your computer by an ethernet cable directly from your internet router.
• If you must use Wi-Fi, try to use your routers 5GHZ network.
• Wi-Fi works best when you are 5-8 feet from your router and have an established line of sight between your router and streaming item.
• Close out other applications on your device that are not essential to your live stream.
• Disconnect other non-essential devices around your home or office that are connected to the internet (tablets, phones, smart TVs).
• Reset your router if necessary by turning it off for at least 10 seconds and restarting it.
• Check your internet speed to confirm the approximate download speed in megabits per second (mbp/s) through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If the internet test proves you aren’t reaching your plans speed, you may call your ISP to address the problem.

What is the cancellation policy?

Written notice of cancellation is required. Email your refund request directly to info@obesitymedicine.org. A $100 cancellation fee will be deducted for cancellations received by Sept. 23, 2020. Refunds are not granted for cancellations received after Sept. 23, 2020, or for no-shows.

If you purchased “registration + first-time membership” bundle, only the registration portion of your payment is refundable and is subject to the cancellation fee schedule outlined above.
Refunds will not be granted for any printed syllabus order.

Can I attend more than one session at a time?

You may only attend one presentation at a time during the Overcoming Obesity 2020 – Virtual conference, just like in person.

How do I evaluate speakers in each session?

At the conclusion of each presentation, a link will display on your screen; click the link to complete and submit a speaker evaluation. Speaker surveys are also available to view and complete under each session description.

Where can I access the slides?

Presentation slides can be found in the individual session description listed under the Educational Sessions webcast auditorium. Click the ‘View Slides’ link to access and download PDFs of the slides or other handouts.

Where is the printed syllabus I ordered?

Any printed syllabus purchased after September 23 may not arrive in time for the virtual conference. Your syllabus will arrive approximately 14 days after your order date.

How do I receive technical support during the conference?

Technical support for the Virtual Event Place platform will be available 30 minutes prior the conference start and throughout the day.
