Who May Apply for a Travel Award

Clinicians-in-training (students, interns, residents, or fellows) who have never attended a spring or fall conference hosted by the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). (Membership with OMA is not required to apply, although the clinician-in-training membership is only $25 per year!)

Travel award recipients will receive complimentary registration to Overcoming Obesity 2017 in San Antonio, Sept. 13-17, and reimbursement of travel expenses, up to $1,000, which may be used for lodging, travel, and meals for the conference.

We are currently accepting applications from clinicians-in-training. The deadline to apply is July 3.

    In no more than one page, please explain your motivation for attending the Obesity Medicine Association conference, including what benefits and experiences you expect to gain from your attendance. Please include any previous training in obesity medicine and what your short- and long-term career goals are. The merit of your application depends very strongly on the quality of your essay.

About the Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the Hal Seim Scholarship Fund is to honor the work and dedication of Dr. Hal Seim. Dr. Seim served as the Obesity Medicine Association’s CME program director for many years. He planned unique CME opportunities and provided clinicians with top-rated obesity medicine education.

Donations to the scholarship fund go toward travel awards for clinicians-in-training, providing them with an opportunity to attend an upcoming spring or fall conference at reduced or no cost.
