Evidence-based Obesity Medicine Research

Our medical journal is dedicated to publishing evidence-based research for health care clinicians in the field of obesity medicine. Obesity Pillars® serves as a resource to assist clinicians to deliver patient-centered obesity medicine care in alignment with the OMA’s four pillars of obesity treatment:

  • Nutrition Therapy
  • Physical Activity
  • Behavioral Modification
  • Medical Interventions

Obesity Pillars® advances obesity medicine research through scholarly publications and serves as a practical resource for clinicians who treat patients with obesity. The Obesity Pillars® Journal seeks to publish original works based on standards of excellence and expert peer review and to publish high-quality original research in an open-access journal.

Clinical Practice Statements

The Clinical Practice Statements published in Obesity Pillars® are based upon published scientific citations, clinical perspectives of OMA authors, and peer reviewed by Obesity Medicine Association leadership. Each CPS covers in-depth a topic directly related to obesity care and provides clinical guidance toward the treatment of patients with obesity, and the Clinical Practice Statements are further aligned with the Obesity Algorithm® and Pediatric Obesity Algorithm®.

Publish Your Article in Obesity Pillars

Obesity Pillars is the official journal of the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). Obesity Pillars publishes Clinical Practice Statements, Scientific Statements, Obesity Guidelines, original clinical investigations, brief reports, clinical reviews, commentaries, roundtable reviews, great debates, diagnostic challenges, Letters to the Editor and OMA announcements.

Obesity Pillars is focused upon translating the clinical science of obesity into the clinical care of patients with obesity. Before submitting a manuscript to Obesity Pillars, please carefully read this Guide for Authors. It is especially important your submission includes items in the Obesity Pillars submission checklist.
