In July 2016, Senators Tom Carper (D-DE) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Representatives Eric Paulsen (R-MN) and Ron Kind (D-WI) introduced Senate Res. 536 and House Res. 840, respectively, which would proclaim the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5, 2016, National Obesity Care Week. The goal of National Obesity Care Week is to encourage all people in the United States to create a foundation for open communication to break barriers of misunderstanding and stigma about obesity and to improve the lives of all individuals affected by obesity and their families.
