What is the difference between the OMA Obesity Treatment Proficiency Badge™  program and earning certification as an ABOM Diplomate?

Certification as an American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) Diplomate signifies even more extensive specialized knowledge in the practice of obesity medicine and distinguishes a physician as having achieved even more competency in obesity care. You must have an active medical license and meet a series of specific requirements to qualify for the board certification exam. In addition to earning each of the OMA Obesity Treatment Proficiency Badges, we encourage physicians who are interested in joining their board-certified colleagues to pursue the ABOM diplomate status, in addition to earning each OMA Obesity Treatment Proficiency Badge to achieve optimal training in how to best treat patients with obesity.
